King’s College London Boat Club is a friendly club with squads for experienced men and women and an active novice program for complete beginners. Unlike some clubs we don’t discriminate on age, height or weight and we encourage everyone to come and give rowing a try!
Water training is based at the prestigious Tideway Scullers School in Mortlake, West London under the guidance of professional coaches. We have our own fleet of sweep boats that includes Janouseks, Filippis and Empachers as well as a small provision for experienced scullers. Off the water, fitness training is largely based at the Guy’s campus in London Bridge where we have our Erg room and regular circuit training sessions for all squads.
The club competes nationally at the major Tideway head races as well as the BUCS championships and Henley Royal and Women’s Regattas. We also compete internationally at the Heineken Roeivierkamp in Amsterdam. Closer to home there are opportunities for some friendly intercollegiate rivalry and a chance for the medics to fly the GKT flag at University of London and United Hospitals races.
After training we like to show we still know how to have a good time! The highlight of the social calendar is the annual tour to Cambridge and we are always well represented at Guys bar and Temple Walkabout.
